Stephen Turcotte of MirrorMaze Media shows how you can create a “stress ball” effect in Cinema 4D. In actuality, the effect isn’t just a squishy ball. It is a ball that will essentially squish out other balls from it, and it’s done with a Cloth tag.

It almost can be explained as a generative effect, where a single sphere mesh is used in C4D, which will then push out other smaller spheres.

The system works by using the Cloth tag along with the attractor to push out other spheres from a single mesh. Stephen uses a modified Xpresso setup from Florian Thamer that could make a vertex map based on velocity, switching it to use position instead. In the end, it all works out to be a pretty neat effect.
