Help with connecting 5 models together

Hello
I've been ripping models from Xenoblade Chronicles and I've ran into a problem I can't find a solution for anywhere
Xenoblade Chronicles character models are split into 5 parts (head, body, arms, legs, shoes) that share the same skeleton.
Is there any way to combine all 5 models into one without getting rid of the original rig? (Already tried the "Connect Objects" method)

I think that these models are useless because are created for other kind of use. There are out of scale joints and a hierarchical disaster in IMHO.
You can weld all parts by use the connect + delete and make the rig again or select all joints and bind them to the mesh again :)

ps: please use the forum attachment system instead to link them from web sites

Thanks for the reply
I have already tried doing what you said and the results were pretty bad

as I suspected, you must connect the character, optimise it and make the rigging again :(
