Method for modeling/animating branches, vines that is seamless?OC

I need to model (and possibly animate) some plants or vines that branch into smaller sub branches, and I need the joints to look seamless. Is there any workflow for modeling a branching type of structure that's somewhat procedural/editable/animatable? I'm particularly concerned with being able to control and hand-edit the path of the branches, as well as making sure the joints look clean.

very hard to make with cinema4D because the branches doesn't show a good welding on the main branch, so every sub branch will results "attached" and not welded.
I seen this kind of effect by using Hair instead of mograph:
