alpha or transparency

Hi Guys, mybe a stupid question :( but what's the real differences from transparancy channel and alpha channel? when it's the best way to use it when an object cutting is needed?

Hi mr, there are big differencies from this two channels, the trasparency channel is a real physical refraction channel so you can make cristals and plastic refractions with IOR, and you can insert colored texture into it to make great trasparency effects.

The alpha channel is only a CUT mask object to make alpha plane or decal mapping :)
