Something goes wrong with weighting - need a hint!

Post by Architheutis »

Hello Folks.

:-((

I´ve got unusual problems with giving my character-mesh its weighting (partial).
As you can see in the attachment the hand palms of my character are still undefined.

Everything worked fine until I remarked these areals don´t keep the weighting
I always give with the weighting tool. First the hand palms take the weightings.
Then, everytime I use another tool or I reload the saved status, the condition
returns back to the previous - the hand palms stay the same and undefined.

How could that be? I actually cannot find the problem!
Maybe I´m blinded of business
Could you be so kind to let YOUR eyes and experiences work here?
I need help to solve that issue.

Best wishes and thank you!
Archie.

First of all, welcome aboard...
Usually when you make a hand RIG, only one joint is used for the central part of the hand. (see picture below) You have a lot of hand in the middle of the model so now you have huge job to do.
I don't know why you have some un-weighed joints, take a look into the weight tag if are inserted into it for weighting.
Sometimes could happen by using on a wrong way the weight tool by changing some settings...

Hi masterzone,

We have already had the pleasure. Nice to meet you here again. :?:
To make the boning of these hands such complex is nessecary, because there are close up animations about to come,
showing the hand closing slowly. :P
Í`ve compared the printed list of the weighttag with the existing bones - everything´s fine.
I really have no idea, why that problem exists. At least I´ve got a girl-version of that character with the same boning/rigging/weighting/preferences/parameters
and there is no problem. Thats´s why I´m confused.

Have a nice start into the weekend!
