C4D Noob

Messaggio da cezare »

Hello guys,

I just started learning C4D with the help of Lynda.com tutorials.
I am coming from photoshop and illustrator and 3d is not something I understand for now and I have some questions.

I purchase some 3D models from cgtrader that provide stl files that (for example) have been created with Zbrush and the file is not editable (like the free files provided in this site).
Is there a way I can edit the stl files that have not been created with C4D ?
I've searched for a tutorial on this tippic but for now I haven't found anything.

Please help me out.

Hi! welcome aboard :)

Unfortunately the STL format is suitable only for exchange mechanical or engineer format. When you import it into C4D the object is subdivided based on export settings made on the other software. So you can't reduce polygons or make big changes on it.
You must use it as is :)
There are other format that can be imported with quality settings but with STL you can't :?
