Place Object Not working correctly

Hello,

When I use place object it seems to clip through the model than sit on top of it. I think im doing something wrong on my end. The axis appears to be correct on both objects as well. It seems to flip my object as well.

Hi check that the object to place is not nested within other object with other rotation.
If you have trouble send me your scene without material and other objects not used to
