Bullet belt making my head spin..

Base80 did a great tutorial years ago on attaching a spline between 2 objects.
http://www.base80.com/index.php/2006/02 ... 2_hair_tut
So using this and the mograph module i've made the belt feed for a gun.

But i still have a problem. As you can see the belt likes to rotate. So any ideas on how to stop it rotating?

I mike, interesting animation (ps: if you need you can attach files or movies directly to the forum, as zipped file).
I think that there is a banking problem maybe solvable with a tip goal, the continuous rotation of spline points or tangents give a strange rotation to the object...let me thinking about it

Hi,
as you have moGraph, you can try a Target effector to constraint the up vector of clones, stopping them from being tangent to the spline points, thus from rotating on every move. I think this may work

see attached files.
cheers

That looks good but i've gone in a completely new direction as i can't get both ends targeted..
After some help from elsewhere a guy called vozzz had a different idea. So here is how the cloth idea went..

The effect works, but i always feel the cloth engine seems to simulate in slow motion. What can be done about that? I am planning on using cloth quite a bit so any ideas would be great..

uhm.. personally i think spline dynamics have more natural and realistic movement for this rope-kind of things and maybe are a bit less complicated to set up.
What was the issue on constraint both ends of the spline ? You can use multiple constraint tags on different points, and have as many as you like... (just shooting in the dark, i don't know if this is the right solution for your work).
Anyway, you can adjust the stifness of the cloth to get a more flexible mesh, or raise up the gravity
