Hi digi welcome aboard :)
Nice model, you done a good job too.
About texturing I think the first step is to make the illumination.
Try to clear all texture on the scene and try to start illuminate the sword first.
The environment could be remain the same, a plane or floor, otherwise you can put the sword on a landscape object you find into primitives menu. Make it flat with up orange handle or on attributes so you can make a good irregular floor instead to use a flat floor.

For the light I think that te HDRI technique is the best tips, put it on a luminance channel and apply it on a sky object.
If you turn on the "indirect illumination" on physical engine you will obtain the best illumination by setting the diffuse depth to "3" than start rendering.
Or you can use standard gi if you are using the full rendering engine.
with HDRI techniques you can add a area light on the right out of screen with area shadow and falloff active, and play with the color of the light to make a light red-orange colored. :)
After a good illumination you can think about texturing :)

Hello and welcome !

The sword is pretty nice especially the blade.
You need to make the handle thicker.

Good luck !
