Quadricycle: the Sibellule
Hello everyone, here is a model I’ve just finished:
a custom-built quadricycle nicknamed "La Sibellule."
It features front-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering. Propulsion is provided by the handlebars,
which act like a rowing mechanism: when the rider pushes the handlebars forward,
they drive the chain and propel the vehicle. Upon release, a spring automatically returns them to the starting position
(it is an older system, similar in principle to the self-propelled scooters of my childhood).
The pedal assembly is equipped with a freewheel sprocket to enable the propulsion system to function.
Steering is controlled by a lever located to the rider's left, alongside the central frame rail,
while braking is handled by a second lever on the right. A dynamo mounted on the front wheel powers the headlight and taillights.
This original creation reimagines a propulsion method that has largely vanished today
and draws inspiration from mechanical solutions characteristic of the 20th century.
I hope you enjoy it. Oups!! The background is my yard—admittedly a bit of a mess.
