Dendritic Cell: How to create small "Tentacles"

Messaggio da Alohaey »

Hello together

I'm attempting to recreate the image, especially focusing on the small tentacle-like structures on the cell body. I have experimented with using hair but haven't achieved the desired result. Observing these tentacle structures, there seems to be considerable variation among them. Does anyone know if these are created with a displacer and noise effect? If so, how are the longer tentacles formed, as they appear bent at the top?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Aloha

hello...welcome aboard...
Very good reference here...so, I think you can achieve this results by using some polygons from a "sphere" object with a good poly topology and create a Mo extrude deformer you can find where the mograph cloner it is.

With it you can extrude some selections and use mograph effectors or fields to make some interesting effects. The rest of the object can be made by a displacer object placed into it or with special material with a noise into the displacement channel. :)

Hi masterzone

Thank you very much for your reply. I attempted to recreate the tentacles using the Mo extrude deformer and achieved some interesting results. However, the tentacles still appear quite similar. Combining the Mo extrude deformer with some noise in the displacement channel works better, though. I was just hoping there would be a single-step method to achieve this effect (I admit this sounds a bit lazy :-)

Hi Alohaey, I'm happy you achieve some good results...so...you can work with a single step by manually create an extrusion on the selected poly, but you need to do the same step on other polygons to make more tentacles...with MoExtrude you can make many copies on polygons selection and change value with some effectors...

Hi and welcome,
you can try playing with hairs and volume builder or, if you're using the latest version, the new particle system (emitting from a sphere and tracing the particles)

Hi Visualtricks

Thank you for the solution suggestions. The way it looks in your screenshot is getting very close. I'll have to take a closer look again at Hairs and the Volume Builder.
